CLEAN WATER - NIGER

Opis

Together, the EU and its Member States are the largest donor to the African continent. Around EUR 20 billion a year in development aid is channelled to Africa through programmes at continental, regional and country level. Around 20% of this amount is managed by the European Commission.
In addition to specific projects funded by EU Member States and the African Union and their development institutions, the EU provides specific support to the implementation of the partnership through two main channels:
- The Pan-African Programme,
- The African Peace Facility.

The most comprehensive report on the development of individual countries and the aid that is needed can be found in the Human Development Report 2019 by the United Nations Development Programme. Additionally, there are many other organisations that focus on the problems of African countries. UNICEF has made available the report "Humanitarian Action for Children in Niger 2020". The World Bank provides the publication "Pulse of Africa", which focuses on economic problems, on average twice a year.
In the content of the above-mentioned reports and publications one can find many problems that citizens of African countries have to struggle with on a daily basis: malnutrition, limited education, tense political situation, perceptible effects of climate change, infectious diseases and many others. Our project will focus on the problem of access to clean drinking water in Niger. This is a country where 2.9 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. Hundreds of thousands of children and adults do not have access to a stable source of drinking water, which, even if it exists, faces a number of obstacles to its planned functioning.
